About the Cell

BIET Intellectual Property Rights Cell (Bharat IPR Cell) was established in 2020 with a vision to develop human resources in the management of Intellectual Property Rights as an integral part of the innovation process and the innovation value chain in the University. Several patent, copyright and industrial design applications have been filed based on the innovations done in college. The Cell has been involved in several IPR awareness and implementation programmes on the College Campus and across the southern region of India. The Cell is gradually building IPR consciousness. The IPR Chair Professor and various staff recruited under the scheme operates from the IPR Cell. The government of India framed the National IPR Policy of 2016 to establish a holistic atmosphere conducive to exploiting the full potential of IP for social, economic, and cultural development. One of the policy’s main objectives is to strengthen IP Chairs in educational institutions of higher learning to provide quality teaching and research, develop teaching capacity and curriculum and evaluate the work on performance-based criteria. Thus, a key objective of this Cell is to integrate IPR with the education process to enhance the quality of thinking, propagate a culture of regard and respect for IPR and ensure speedy and accurate identification and protection of innovations arising out of the research work carried out in the college.

IPR Cell of BIET have organized many workshops and Seminars for awareness of IPR:
